When we look at a patient, we’re not just looking at another body, we see a person. After all, we’re not body mechanics. We see likes and dislikes. Passions and pastimes. Loves and losses. And most profoundly, love of life. Our job is to care for, and heal, that person— along with all the wonderful human emotion. And—it goes without saying that taking care of humanity, demands a sense of humanity.
